Public volunteer platform launched

A unified volunteer service platform which registers volunteers' information and implements strict management was launched on Friday morning, the city's civil affairs authorities announced.

The public service platform, linking all volunteer service platforms in the city, records the service, training, assessment and award information of volunteers and their service time, according to the Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau.

Residents are able to look for suitable volunteer service positions that match them, and participate in various charity events via the platform as well, officials said.

Volunteers can report irregularities of charity event organizers through the platform, and volunteers and organizations will be blacklisted in the public credit information system if they are found engaging in such acts as fabricating service hours, bureau officials said.
