New alliance to boost development of 'characteristic' towns
An alliance was established on Friday at East China University of Science and Technology to promote the development of characteristic towns in the Yangtze River Delta region.
Initiated by the university’s School of Business, the alliance now includes the governments of 15 cities in the delta, as well as about 10 companies besides the university, and is expected to attract more participating parties in the future.
It will enhance characteristic development of the towns in the delta so as to strengthen enforcement of the country’s strategies for rural revitalization, targeted poverty alleviation, industrial synergy and environmental governance.
Guided by governments and supported by universities in the region, the alliance will build up various platforms to integrate resources.
Before the establishment ceremony, experts from governments, research institutes and companies shared their experiences in the development of characteristic towns, such as Wuzhen Town in Zhejiang Province, which hosts the world Internet conference and the Wuzhen Theater Festival, and Nianhua Bay in Jiangsu Province, which features Buddhist life and ancient Chinese architecture.
