The International Chamber Music Center at Shanghai Conservatory of Music was jointly launched on Saturday by Shanghai Conservatory of Music, University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and European Chamber Music Academy.

A cooperation memorandum was signed by the three sides at the launching ceremony, aiming at making a new platform for chamber music education, exchange and collaboration, supported by international resources.

Johannes Meissl, artistic director of European Chamber Music Academy, announced Shanghai Conservatory of Music a member of the European Chamber Music Academy on the spot.

The new International Chamber Music Center is expected to cover education, performance, creation and research for comprehensive chamber music development. Apart from organizing cross-major courses and exchange programs in multiple forms to breed potential talents, the center will also stage chamber music concert regularly and encourage chamber music creation to cultivate the market.

“I believe that the cooperation of the three sides will inject energy in chamber music development, expanding its influence and exploring new possibilities in both Asia and Europe,” said Ulrike Sych, rector of University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.
