Bachu County in China's northwestern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region sent a team to promote four of its special tourism routes in Shanghai on Sunday. The promotion ahead of the one-week National Day holiday starting from October 1 is designed to attract Shanghai residents to experience the beautiful landscape of Bachu.

Shanghai has been linked to Bachu in a national program to assist in Bachu's development over years. Under the program, Shanghai has organized 20 chartered flights carrying nearly 5,000 visitors from Shanghai to Xinjiang this year.

The four special routes will pack in a number of renowned attractions, including the Red Sea tourism area, the Kashgar Old Town, the Baisha Mountain, the Zepu poplar forest, the Shache Intangible Cultural Exposition Park, the Aksu National Forest Park and Wensu Grand Canyon.

The self-driving tour in the Red Sea tourism area and the exploration tour of Bashan Mountain desert are particularly recommended.

"The tourism event helps promote the exchange between Shanghai and Bachu, a pearl tourist destination on the 'Silk Road Economic Belt'," said Zhou Haiying, deputy governor of Jing'an District where the tourism event was held.

Bachu is also home to a variety of quality agricultural products such as mutton, mushroom, red date, walnut, apple, muskmelon and almond.
