Several luxury hotels including the Shangri-La, Langham, Sheraton and Sofitel have been ordered to rectify some problems after undercover investigations by the city’s tourism administration.

The elevator maintenance certificate of The Langham Xintiandi Shanghai had expired.

Emergency exits at Sheraton Shanghai Chongming Hotel were partially blocked, according to the administration.

No production date could be found on certain food and beverages inside the rooms of the Sofitel Shanghai Hongqiao Hotel.

The investigation covered 46 hotels, with about one third found to have problems.

Some other problems such as broken safety facilities were also detected, the administration said.
