Shanghai No.2 Intermediate People’s Court handled 24,215 cases in 2017, up 9.57 percent than 2016, court announced Friday.
Last year, the court finished 1,736 criminal cases, more than 7 percent of the total. Of them, 33 cases related to severe criminal offenses such as murder and rape whose number saw a year-on-year decrease of 31.25 percent.
Of the total, about 65 percent were civil affairs disputes.
Between 2016 and 2018, the court finished 715 divorce cases, and nearly half concerned families with underage children.
