Gala honors charity projects

A number of charity organizations and projects were honored on Saturday night at a charity gala hosted by the city's civil affairs authorities.

The 10 charity organizations honored included the Shanghai Cancer Recovery Club, the Shanghai Youth Volunteer Association and the Changshou Road Sub-district Social Organization Service Center. The "Greatest Love under the Sky" charity event of the Shanghai Charity Foundation and "Community Dream Center" of Adream Foundation were honored among the 10 best charity projects.

Shanghai's social organizations received 5.56 billion yuan in donations last year, and the city has set up 3,240 regular social donation collection stations, according to Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau.

Shanghai had registered 15,716 social organizations by the end of June.

The city has more than 3.6 million registered volunteers.
