Shanghai welcomes 1 million tourists on 1st Day of National Day holiday

Tourist attractions across the city received nearly 1 million visitors on Monday, the first day of the National Day holiday, posing a surge of 34 percent from the same day last year.

In total, 135 scenic spots in Shanghai had 952,000 tourists, and the rise was because of the pleasant weather and various activities held at tourist attractions, the Shanghai Tourism Administration said.

The landmark Oriental Pearl TV Tower received 28,000 tourists, while the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum had 32,900, according to the administration.

The Zhujiajiao Water Town welcomed 37,400 tourists, and the Fengjing Ancient Town received 20,000. The Tianzifang area had 65,500.

The Shanghai International Tourism Resort received 52,000 visitors and the Sheshan National Tourism Resort had 66,100 tourists.

The Shanghai Tourist Bus Center received 1,930 tourists on Monday with 59 buses arranged.

There were 141 tourism consultation and complaints, according to the city's 962020 tourism hotline.
