An emergency drill is conducted by the city's urban management and law enforcement authorities in preparation for the first China International Import Expo.

Six urban management and law enforcement teams serving the China International Import Expo were established on Tuesday and an emergency drill was conducted.

They will safeguard key areas of the expo site, including areas near the National Exhibition and Convention Center, the Hongqiao business hub, and the Hongqiao transportation hub, according to the Shanghai Urban Management and Law Enforcement Bureau.

They will also implement a three-tier emergency response system around the clock targeting illegal street stalls and flyers that seriously affect city sanitation and the environment, as well as violence against law enforcement.

Between January and September, Shanghai's urban management authorities conducted around 8,200 administrative inspections in key areas of the expo, with about 4,300 campaigns conducted.

About 900 unauthorized night and breakfast stalls were closed down and more than 6,000 outdoors ads, shop signs and billboards were dismantled. About 48,000 randomly parked non-motorized vehicles were cleared and illegal structures totaling about 400,000 square meters have been dismantled.
