Shanghai memories win writing prize

Japanese student's memoir takes first prize from 251 entries from 42 countries and regions

Yasuga Kure, from Japan, won first prize at the 5th Shanghai Get-together Writing Contest, the organizer announced on October 23.

The article, written in Chinese, depicts her memories of Shanghai when she studied at Fudan University two years ago.

The jury panel also selected three runners-up and four third prize winners among 26 finalists during a review meeting at Shanghai Library.

Organized by Shanghai People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Shanghai Tourism Bureau and Shanghai Library, the writing contest collected 251 articles from 42 countries and regions, with a remarkable growth in both the quantity and quality of the entries compared with previous years.

The award ceremony will be held on November 30.
