Shanghai was shrouded in smog Wednesday, according to the environmental monitoring center.

The AQI was 122 at 7am and the major pollutants were PM2.5 particles, the monitoring center said, warning that children, seniors and people with respiratory diseases should avoid outdoor activities.

The air is expected to get better in the afternoon.
