Fire drill to mark National Fire Prevention Day

A fire drill was held at Pudong New Area Special Education School on Friday morning to mark the National Fire Prevention Day of China.

At the school, which recruits mentally challenged children, firemen from the Qingning firefighting squad gave the students a class on fire escape knowledge with pictures and animations specially created for this group of children.

Shanghai Shen-Mei Beverage & Food Co, one of the organizers of the event, donated 10 “fire escape boxes” containing towels and bottled water to the school. The company said such boxes will be found on every story of the school building.

November 9 has been the National Fire Prevention Day in China since 1992, and 119 is the national fire emergency call.
