Travel expo offers taste of the exotic

The 2018 China International Travel Mart raised its curtain on Friday with performances, delicacies and interactive activities that bring an international flavor to Shanghai.

The three-day international travel industry exhibition at the Shanghai New International Expo Center in the Pudong New Area will gather exhibitors from 107 countries and regions and feature more than 2,200 stands, according to the Shanghai Tourism Administration.

Visitors will be able to appreciate traditional dances by Indonesian, Malaysian and Panamanian performers, and participate in lucky draws to win tour packages.

For the first time, a health tourism forum will be held during the event, with traditional Chinese medicine and sachet making on site.

The Shanghai exhibition area, covering 702 square meters, will feature old villas and skyscrapers in Lujiazui area through photos, images and videos. There is also a tea culture display area to promote Chinese traditional tea culture. 

The event is now in its 20th year.
