Shanghai passengers will be able to scan their QR codes through the Metro Daduhui app to pay for Metro services in Hangzhou and Ningbo in Zhejiang Province as early as the end of this year, Shanghai Shentong Metro Group announced.

Meanwhile, passengers from the two cities can also use the QR code on their city’s Metro apps, Hangzhou Metro and Ningbo Metro, to use Metro stations in Shanghai.

With the integration of the Yangtze River Delta being a national strategy, cities in the delta have formed an official office to further strengthening cooperation.

The Metro operator said the Metro systems of another six cities in the delta region — Nanjing, Hefei, Changzhou, Wuxi, Suzhou and Wenzhou — will also reinforce communication with Shanghai. In the future, the same QR code will be in common use among cities in the delta.
