A traditional Chinese medicine festival was organized by Yueyang Hospital from Friday through early January to mark the annual TCM reinforcement period.

Many Chinese believed that winter is the best time for TCM caring and reinforcement by taking gaofang and other TCM therapies.

Chinese has the tradition of taking the herbal paste tonic, or gaofang, during winter to build up and store their energy so it can “sprout” again in spring.

During the festival, doctors will give regular consultations and lectures to the public on herbal knowledge, gaofang consultation and TCM health care guidance.

It is the 14th year that Yueyang launched the TCM festival, which has benefited more than 100,000 people in the city and neighboring regions.
