Air China to expand global network from Shanghai
Air China will make Shanghai its key international port while expanding its global routes, the nation’s flagship carrier announced over the weekend.
The airline will deploy its new Airbus 350 aircraft to fly international routes from Shanghai to Frankfurt and Milan to further enhance its transport capacity from Shanghai, said Zhang Xianghe, general manager with Air China Shanghai.
It has launched several new long-haul routes from Shanghai to Paris and Munich in order to optimize its strategic positioning in east China, Zhang said.
The carrier launched its new branding campaign, “Land your dream,” in Shanghai on Saturday, featuring more convenient boarding procedures and more comfortable services for passengers.
As the first stop of its nationwide promotion, the airline set up a simulated cabin of the A350 at the Jing An Kerry Centre, where visitors are able to experience the cabin of the new state-of-the-art passenger aircraft through virtual reality.
Six interactive cabins featuring popular destinations in Europe, North America, East Asia, South America and South Africa have been created. Visitors who experience all six attractions can take part in a lucky draw for a free flight ticket from the carrier.
Air China became the first domestic carrier to take delivery of the A350-900 wide-body aircraft from Airbus in August. It has ordered a total of 10 A350s, which feature longer range and lower fuel consumption compared with other passenger jets of the same size.
