Thirty cities across China will show off their chrysanthemums at the China (Shanghai) Chrysanthemum Exhibition in 2019, which will be held in Shanghai after 15 years' absence, organizers announced on Tuesday.

The exhibition will run between October 26 and November 26 next year, with its theme centering on "the flourishing age" and China's amazing development to mark the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

A variety of chrysanthemums, including some rare species, as well as bonsai and flower arrangement works using chrysanthemums, will be featured. There will be a number of competition sections with different varieties of the flower.

The exhibition will be held at Shanghai Gongqing Forest Park in Yangpu District, with two sub-venues at the Huilong Park in Jiading District and Fangta Park in Songjiang District. Twenty-seven cities will make outdoor displays of chrysanthemum landscapes.

The China Chrysanthemum Exhibition, first held in 1982, is the largest and most important chrysanthemum event in China. It is held every three years, with the upcoming one being the 13th exhibition.

The event aims to stimulate communication among different cities over chrysanthemum research and planting, and promote "chrysanthemum culture."
