Award for young medical talent celebrates 30 years

The Silver Snake Award, the highest award for local medical staff, celebrated its 30th anniversary on Thursday, when a forum on the cultivation of young medical talent and a free medical consultation was launched.

To encourage young local talent, Shanghai Health Youth Talent Reward Foundation introduced the Silver Snake Award in 1989. So far, 248 medical professionals under 40 years of age have received the honor.

The foundation also set up an award for nurses in 2012 to honor leading nurses in the city.

Some 30 Silver Snake winners offered free consultation to local residents on Thursday morning.
