An exhibition of patriotic poet Wang Tuizhai opened at the Shanghai Humanism Memorial Museum inside Fushouyuan Cemetery on Sunday as part of a program to commemorate and record the lives of ancestors.

The Shanghai Humanism Memorial Museum inside Fushouyuan Cemetery has launched a new project using audio, lectures and exhibitions to commemorate and record the lives of ancestors and promote their spirit in cooperation with the Shanghai Research Institute of Culture and History.

A poem, calligraphy and painting exhibition of patriotic poet Wang Tuizhai (1906-2003) opened at the museum in Qingpu District on Sunday, and a lecture about him delivered by his children and scholars was uploaded online at the same time.

The museum has created more than 70 audio recordings about "Shanghai predecessors" who once made great contributions to the city's development. The audio recordings include renowned Chinese artist Feng Zikai (1898-1975), calligraphy master Shen Yinmo (1883-1971) plus Xie Xide (1921-2000), former president of Fudan University, and Chen Yi (1901-1972), Shanghai’s first mayor after 1949.

Serial lectures of Shanghai celebrities will be delivered and uploaded online as part of the program.

The museum has also hosted exhibitions of Shen Junru (1875-1963), the first president of the Supreme People’s Court of China, and Chen Yi.

The museum boasts thousands of items from deceased celebrities including letters, manuscripts, photos, documents, clothing and furniture.
