Police encourage social partners to contribute to traffic safety

Twelve companies and non-governmental organizations were awarded commemoration medals by Shanghai traffic police for their contribution to improving traffic safety in the city.

The ceremony was a part of an event to mark the seventh “National Day of Traffic Safety” which falls on December 2.

The 12 parties comprise of a union led by the police to promote good manners of traffic participants and traffic safety.

One of the companies is AB InBev which has been cooperating with Shanghai traffic police and local universities in modifying roads where traffic accidents often happened since 2015.

The company said in the first six roads modified, the number of accidents has dropped 50 to 70 percent and casualties are down 50 percent, while an education program targeting working drivers has managed to reduce bad driving habits such as making phone calls when driving. Driving under fatigue have been reduced by 30 percent.
