Officials from Yangtze River Delta cities and one district jointly launch the first cultural and financial cooperation service platform at the Yangtze River Delta Cultural and Financial Cooperation Forum on Friday.

Five Yangtze River Delta cities and one district signed an agreement on Friday to jointly drive the development of cultural companies and projects in the Yangtze River Delta region.

Shanghai's Xuhui District along with Nanjing in Jiangsu Province, Hangzhou, Ningbo and Shaoxing in Zhejiang Province, as well as Bengbu, Anhui Province, established the first cultural and financial cooperation service platform.

The platform based in the Shanghai United Assets and Equity Exchange will publicize cultural projects to attract investments, share resources and offer services for cultural and innovation companies within the region.

"We'd like to better connect the cultural and financial companies and create more financial tools and products to support the development of cultural companies," Fang Shizhong, director of Xuhui, told the Yangtze River Delta Cultural and Financial Cooperation Forum.

The added value of cultural industry in the Yangtze River Delta region accounts for 30 percent of the nation's total. A third of China's top 30 cultural companies are based in the delta region, according to a regional cultural industry report released on the forum. Residents in the region have spent an average of over 1,000 yuan (US$143) annually on culture and entertainment since 2015, which is 1.4 times the country's average, according to the report.

Internet film, short video, knowledge payment, animation and sports education are expected to become five most thriving cultural industry sectors in the Yangtze Delta region, Chen Hang, president of the China Culture Industrial Investment Fund, told the forum.

The first batch of over 60 cultural projects have been publicized on the newly established platform over the weekend to attract investments. They included digital content, online video as well as animation and game businesses. These projects are also being displayed at the ongoing Yangtze River Delta International Cultural Industries Expo at the Shanghai Exhibition Center through Sunday.

Xuhui aims to create a new cultural industries landmark on the West Bund waterfront region. More new policies on artwork bonded exhibition and trade are expected to be tested in Xuhui to attract a swathe of companies on artwork trade and digital media, the district director Fang said.
