Metro mobile fare app accepted in more cities in Yangtze Delta region
Passengers will soon be able to use app Metro Daduhui to get on Metro trains in major cities in the Yangtze River Delta, said Shanghai Shentong Metro Group on Saturday.
The first three cities sharing one app are Shanghai and Ningbo and Hangzhou in Zhejiang Province.
Starting from Saturday, passengers can activate the QR code of the other two cities. Passengers from Ningbo and Hangzhou can also use their Metro apps in Shanghai.
By the end of this year, Wuxi in Jiangsu Province will join the family. Hefei, Suzhou, Nanjing and Wenzhou will follow next year.
So far, the QR code payment only supports Alipay.
More passengers are using mobile payment to pay fares. Huang Xun, director of the operation center of Hangzhou Metro, said as of last month more than 50 percent of all passengers used mobile payment to buy tickets. The ratio in Shanghai and Ningbo exceeded 23 percent respectively.
Jin Tao from Shanghai Metro operator said as the integration of the Yangtze River Delta keeps developing, it is an urgent task to make the regional transportation easier for travelers.
“We will continue to unify payment method of different transport systems,” said Jin. “For example the bus and the bullet trains.”
