Elderly man punished for stopping the traffic
An 87-year-old man has been punished for stopping a bus on the street between stops and trying to get on.
Police said the incident took place on Changde Road at Zhaojiaqiao Road in the Jing'an Temple area at 2pm last Saturday.
Videos shot by passers-by and put online showed the man, who was walking with a stick, blocking the path of a No.37 bus and refusing to move despite people nearby telling him to.
Police soon arrived and traffic flow was restored after it had been disrupted for around 10 minutes.
They said the man, identified as Wu, had been punished for disturbing public order, but declined to say what kind of punishment.
Similar offenses merit up to 10 days' detention, but people over 70 years of age are exempt from detention.
Meanwhile, in Hongkou District, a 63-year-old bus passenger was detained after jostling the driver and causing the bus to hit a street cleaning vehicle last Sunday.

The passenger had an argument with the driver and then attacked him on his neck and shoulder, causing the collision, police said.
No one was injured in the incident.
The passenger, a man surnamed Wang, could face a criminal charge of endangering public safety, police said.
