HK joins clamor for kindergarten teachers
Several Hong Kong universities announced new bachelor’s programs in early childhood education in Shanghai yesterday to promote new admissions from mainland students.
The Chinese University of Hong Kong told a press conference that it would offer a five-year bachelor’s program in early childhood education.
The University of Hong Kong announced a bachelor’s program to prepare students for dual certification as both early childhood teachers and teachers of children with special needs.
Danni Shen, manager of admissions at the University of Hong Kong in Shanghai, said the new program was created to fill in the gap between supply and demand in the early childhood sphere.
Hong Kong decided last year to extend its free education from 12 years to 15 years by adding three years of kindergarten education.
