The police officer eventually puts the passenger's bag through the machine, but the passenger then assaults him for doing so, footage from a surveillance camera inside the railway station showed.

Shanghai railway police said on Thursday that the passenger, a 30-year-old local man surnamed Yang, will be detained for five days for impeding the work of police at the railway station.

Yang allegedly expressed his apology to the police officer.

Railway police remind the public that they have the right to deny entrance into the station to passengers who refuse to have their bags checked, and those who ignore warnings and disturb the order at a railway station will be punished.
