Competition to raise awareness around value of life
A new media innovation competition themed on life education was launched in Shanghai and Hong Kong on Wednesday to raise awareness around the value of life among university students ahead of dongzhi, the winter solstice.
The competition, jointly organized by the Hang Seng University of Hong Kong and Shanghai-based Fushouyuan International Group, will run through February and involve experts' reviews and online public voting.
New media works such as digital and Internet works are eligible. The results will be announced in late March.
The competition, which aims to promote life education among students in Shanghai and Hong Kong, will involve students from universities in both cities, with prizes ranging between 3,000 yuan (US$435) and 20,000 yuan.
This year's dongzhi falls on Saturday and, like the Qingming Festival, it is a time for Chinese people to pay respects to their deceased ancestors.
