An exhibition about the Tokyo Trial has opened at the China Art Museum to mark the 70th anniversary of the judgment on Japanese leaders accused of war crimes.

The exhibits include a 168-meter-long by 4-meter-high panorama, painted over a period of three and a half years by artist Li Bin based on meticulous research.

The painting shows more than 400 of the people who took part, including judges, prosecutors and accused.

The exhibition also has more than 100 photographs, including some provided by the national archives of the United States and Japan, with others from public and private collections and from relatives of those involved.

A documentary “The Tokyo Trial” produced by Shanghai Media Group is being shown at the exhibition. It has won numerous awards at home and abroad, including first prize in the China News Awards and best documentary program at the Asia Television Awards.

The exhibition is hosted by the Shanghai Federation of Social Science Associations and Shanghai Jiao Tong University. It’s free to the public and will run to January 8.
