Man fined for letting baby hold wheel

A motorist was fined 200 yuan (US$29) and had two points deducted from his license for letting his baby hold the wheel while driving, police said on Thursday.

Police in Songjiang District said they started their investigation after receiving a report on Weibo.com on Tuesday.

In a video shot by the netizen, the man was seen with a baby sitting in front of him in the driver's seat — its hands were on the steering wheel.

The video was allegedly shot on Husong Highway last Saturday.

The motorist, surnamed Zhao, was summoned to the police station on Thursday and fined.

His baby is only 20 months old, police said.
