Shanghai eases visa application rules for foreigners
Foreigners who apply for certain kinds of Chinese visas in Shanghai will be exempt from preparing some materials starting from next year, Shanghai police said on Saturday.
Those who apply for an M, Q2 or S2 visa or a residence permit covering family reunion for a second time in Shanghai don't have to hand in proof of family relations with the person who invites them if the person is the same as the previous time.
Those who apply for an F, R, X2 or M visa or a residence permit covering work or study for a second time in Shanghai don't have to hand in proof of legal registration of the inviting party if the inviting party is the same as the previous time.
The exit-entry administration says that the above new rules apply only to applicants who apply for the corresponding visas in Shanghai, not in Chinese embassies or consulates in foreign countries.
