Huangpu hosts New Year concert for top talent
Huangpu District held a New Year concert for its top professionals over the weekend to mark the beginning of a new campaign to better serve and allure talent.
Nearly 1,000 top-level professionals who work or live in Huangpu, including many overseas returnees, were invited to the concert at the Shanghai Concert Hall. Fifteen professionals in innovation and entrepreneurship and 25 technical experts were listed as the district's top professionals at the concert.
"Huangpu aims to create a highland for talent with more active, open and effective talent policies," said Gao Yun, Party chief of the district. The downtown district has gathered nearly one fifth of the city's financial professionals, and the number of specialists in Huangpu has increased by some 80 percent over the last five years.
In the next step, the district will further meet the cultural demands of talent by inviting them to various events like the New Year concert.
More talent apartments will be offered along with cash subsidies to better accommodate professionals. The district has built some 1,100 apartments for its specialists with low rent so far.
The district also pledged to provide more convenient medical services at both Western and TCM (traditional Chinese medicine) hospitals in Huangpu.
The concert was also one of the last events at the 88-year-old concert hall which will close in March for a face-lift, 15 years after it moved to the current site. The concert hall will reopen in January 2020.
