Huang Chunwang (center) is reunited with his family at a police station in the Pudong New Area on Monday.

A man who had been lost for more than four days was returned home with the help of police in the Pudong New Area.

At around 1:20am yesterday, Pudong police received a call about a man wandering on the sidewalk of Luoshan Road. Officers dispatched to the scene brought the man back to the precinct.

Police found the man knew nothing about how to get home and couldn’t remember his ID number.

After checking his name on their system, police contacted his family and his son picked him up at about 9:30am.

Huang Chunwang, 58, is from Shanxi Province, according to his son. He went missing in Pujiang Town, Minhang District, at 7pm on January 2 carrying only a public transportation card and some small change. His son, who was with his child, reported the disappearance to police.

A surveillance video shows Huang entering a Metro station in Minhang at 11:10am on January 3 and exiting from Hongkou Football Stadium Station at noon. He showed up in the Wujiaochang area, Yangpu District, at 3pm that day and reappeared in Baoshan District on January 4. Huang appears to have spent his four days “traveling” through most of the city.
