Network for cardiovascular disease established

Huadong Hospital announced it will team up with 17 district-level hospitals and neighborhood health centers in Jing’an and Changning districts to set up a cardiovascular disease prevention, control, treatment and rehabilitation network.

With the support of Huadong Hospital, patients in the network can receive classified service in line with their condition and quicker hospital transfers within the network.

“Cardiovascular disease has always been the top cause of death for local residents — the purpose of this network is to reduce mortality and improve patients’ life quality,” said Dr Zheng Songbai, vice president of Huadong Hospital. “The network will study an efficient and high-quality diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation system based on the regional information platform."

The doctor added that patients who are identified as having serious cardiovascular syndromes can be transferred to higher level hospitals immediately, or receive direction from medical specialists in top hospitals, while those receiving surgery in high-level hospitals can be transferred to neighborhood health centers for follow-up rehabilitation.
