Charity auction raises funds to help autistic children
More than 1.1 million yuan (US$164,213) was raised in a charity auction in Shanghai on Tuesday evening to help children with autism.
Included in the auction items were porcelain works painted with watercolor paints by autistic children, a vintage diamond brooch and a gold-gilt bracelet. The money raised will be donated to the Shanghai Charity Foundation to help autistic children, as well as other educational or medical projects.
A group of autistic children from a band established by the city's renowned conductor Cao Peng, 93, played music at the event.
