Olympic Expo Shanghai winds down with unique gift
The two-month Olympic Expo Shanghai ended on Sunday at Shanghai Tower.
Over the period, more than 150,000 people from home and abroad visited the building's 119th floor, where Olympic torches, medals, posters and other souvenirs were on display.
To promote the Olympic spirit, Juan Antonio Samaranch Jr, vice president of the International Olympic Committee, took part in a vertical race held in November last year. He took nearly 45 minutes to climb 3,398 steps and 119 floors.
Some interactive activities were held to raise children’s interest in Olympics sports, including fencing and floorball.
Children represent the Olympic spirit and they are the future, Samaranch said on Sunday.
He has sent a torch used in the torch relay of the 2018 Winter Olympics held in PyeongChang, South Korea, to the Shanghai Tower as a gift.
The 2022 Winter Olympics will be held in Beijing.
