Shanghai's current rainy weather is expected to carry on into next week, while a round of snow will hit the city at the weekend and bring a drop in temperature, the meteorological authority said.

Shanghai has been plagued with intermittent rain this week due to frequent warm and wet air flows from the southeast. According to the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau, moderate rain is expected on Friday and the temperature is forecast to be between 5 and 8 degrees Celsius.

With the arrival of another cold front, sleety weather and snow has been forecast for Saturday, and the temperature will fall to 3 to 5 degrees.

Sunday will be mostly overcast with a temperature of 2 to 8 degrees, and the rain will make a comeback starting from Monday, with the highest temperature climbing to over 10 degrees.

Despite the weekend’s cold front, Shanghai’s air quality will remain good for the rest of the week. According to the Shanghai Environmental Monitoring Center, the Air Quality Index will fall between 45 and 65, rated as good, until Sunday.

The northern part of the Yangtze River Delta region will encounter some slight pollution at the weekend, though, due to air pollutants carried into the area by the cold front, the center added.
