Shanghai Party Secretary Li Qiang met Jason Hsuan, president of AOC International, a Taiwan-based multinational electronics company, and his delegation on Monday.

Li said Shanghai is working hard to build itself into an international economic, financial, trade, shipping, and a technology & innovation center.

The city boasts a dense Taiwanese population and a large amount of investment from Taiwan. Shanghai will further strengthen its exchanges and cooperation with Taiwan on trade, culture, and youth exchange.

The local government will continue to support Taiwanese businesses in the city, and it also hopes that AOC can keep further tapping into the market in Shanghai and share business opportunities, Li added.

Hsuan said Shanghai has a good business environment and a large innovation talent pool. AOC is willing to further increase its investment in the city and expand its R&D, sales, and international management to promote talent exchange between the two partners.

Zheng Gangmiao, minister of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Shanghai Committee; and Zhuge Yujie, secretary-general of the CPC Shanghai Committee, also attended the meeting.
