The Pudong New Area People's Court accepted 171,697 financial cases in the past decade since it was set up, dealing with the vast majority, according to a white paper released by the court on Tuesday.

More than 4,400 cases had foreign organizations or individuals involved, including foreign banks, insurance companies, financial leasing companies and factoring companies.

Over 66,200 cases were related to the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone, which witnessed a boom after the zone's expansion.

The white paper said the top three most commonly seen disputes relate to financial loans, credit cards and financial leasing. About 75 percent of financial loan cases involved automobile finance companies.

The report highlighted a number of problems existing among financial cases. 

For example, cases relating to online lending platforms often involved a lot of investors were unable to get their funds back. 

In some small loan cases, small loan providers didn't perform thorough checks on borrowers' identities and qualifications or didn't have good risk evaluation mechanisms.
