A class started on Tuesday at Shanghai Open University to train craftsmen from the Karamay City of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

It is the first class launched after the university and Karamay Radio and TV University jointly set up the Shanghai-Karamay Craftsmen Institute in November 2017 to support development of talent in Karamay, known for its oil industry.

The 10-day training program has attracted more than 40 oil-related technicians. They will attend lectures delivered by local academicians, craftsmen, model workers and other experts, and visit studios of local masters.
