Rewards now offered for drug crime tip-offs
People and organizations from home and abroad that report local drug-related crimes will now be eligible for rewards of up to 500,000 yuan (US$74,521).
The amount of the reward will vary according to the number of offenders, quantity of the drugs seized, and how serious was the possible damage to society.
People who report drug driving will be rewarded 500 yuan if the driver is caught.
For reporting adding poppy shells to food, the reward will range from 1,000 to 20,000 yuan while reports about online drug-related service providers or websites will bring rewards of 2,000 to 100,000 yuan — only after the cases are cleared.
The personal information of people who tip-off police will never be revealed. Officers from government departments such as the police, procuratorates, courts, judicial administrations, national security authorities and military are excluded. People working for customs, railway stations, airports, post offices and logistics companies are included.
People making false reports are liable for punishment.
