Man arrested for baby product counterfeiting

A man has been arrested for counterfeiting Japanese maternal and baby product manufacturer Pigeon's bottles and nipples.

A man has been arrested for counterfeiting Japanese maternal and baby product manufacturer Pigeon's bottles and nipples.

He sold the counterfeit products for 240,000 yuan (US$35,715), prosecutors in Jinshan District said on Thursday.

According to the Jinshan District People's Procuratorate, acting on information, police raided a farmhouse in Anhui Province in November last year and arrested the man named Shen. 

More than 16,000 fake Pigeon nursing bottles and nipples were seized. Officers also found more than 96,000 fake Pigeon packing cases.

Prosecutors said Shen began employing workers to make fake Pigeon products in September last year. The products were later sold in areas including Shanghai, as well as Zhejiang and Jiangsu provinces, via platforms such as WeChat. 

The fake Pigeon nipples were sold for as little as 2 yuan.

Other people involved in the operation are being sought by police.
