Competition encourages kids to 'walk in nature'

A nature notes competition for children and youngsters was launched at the Chenshan Botanical Garden in Songjiang District on Friday, encouraging them to "walk in nature."

The competition aims to encourage children to learn and experience nature while recording the things and people they observe.

The event was supported by seven botanical gardens nationwide.

Nature notes is a way to learn about nature, said Ren Zhong, a trainer.

It only requires paper and a pen and people can search for materials themselves to learn about animals and plants, the organizer said.

About 100 teachers received training on nature notes at the garden on Friday.
