Schools, museum reach deal to promote science in the city
A new batch of 124 primary and middle schools in Shanghai have sealed cooperation ties with Shanghai Science and Technology Museum to promote science education among youngsters, the museum said on Friday.
Since 2016, the museum and its affiliated Shanghai Natural History Museum have worked with 167 schools across 16 districts in which students act as guides of the museums and teachers take classes on a regular basis.
“Actually, museums are also classrooms,” said Gu Qingsheng, director of the management committee of Shanghai Natural History Museum. “Students can get to see and touch what they learn in their textbooks, and meet and talk to scientists. It can also inspire teachers to design interesting lessons and better promote science education.”
Gu said this year teachers of different subjects will be encouraged to join hands to design a yearly education project.
