An early childhood education organization outlet has been suspended from operation, with two staff members put under criminal coercive measures for suspected child abuse, authorities in the Pudong New Area announced on Thursday evening.

According to the joint statement by Pudong’s education bureau, market watchdog and public security bureau, they received reports on Thursday from local residents that the Keribaby Early Childhood Education Center’s Beicai outlet had suspected child abuse problems.

An investigation confirmed the reports.

Authorities also found the operator, Shanghai Ziyu Educational Technology Co Ltd, had no qualifications to provide early childhood education or child-care services.

The new area police has already taken criminal coercive measures against two staff members, and the center has been suspended from operation.

Police and procurators are now investigating the case.

Pudong authorities will launch a comprehensive investigation into related organizations.
