The Shanghai Stock Exchange has been fined 10,000 yuan (US$1,490) after its canteen license was found to be out of date.

The canteen for staff at the stock exchange on Yingchun Road in the Pudong New Area was operating in September last year, despite its license having expired in April, according to the Pudong New Area Market Supervision and Management Bureau.

The license was valid between April, 2015 and April, 2018, according to the bureau.

The canteen stopped operation on September 19 after the irregularity was detected and obtained a new food operation license on September 27, the bureau said.

As the canteen does not charge, there was no illegal profit, but it was fined 10,000 yuan.

In late 2017, the stock exchange hosted a training at the Grand Soluxe Zhongyou Hotel Shanghai in Pudong. About 30 students developed symptoms of gastrointestinal discomfort after dinner in a food-poisoning incident.
