No fishing as rivers restocked

The fishing season will close through May 16, the Jiading fishing administration announced as they called for any violations to be reported on 24-hour hotline 5992-4818.

Notices have been posted at aquatic product teams as well as wet markets in Zhuqiao, Loutang and Fangtai, and on the website of the Jiading District government.

The district is to release millions of juvenile fish in its main rivers. There are more than 2,000 rivers in the district.

In Shanghai, every year from February 16 to May 16 is closed fishing season along the Huangpu River and other open water areas — juvenile fish released at this time have more chance of survival.
