Suspects held for mass-producing fake car reflective tape
Eight suspects have been detained for allegedly mass-producing fake 3M reflective tape used on cars, Shanghai police reported on Tuesday.
The gang has sold more than 20 million yuan (US$3 million) of the fake products since 2018.
Police in Jiading District began an investigation earlier this month after receiving a report from 3M that cut-price fake reflective tape was being sold.
Police said the fake tape was 20 times cheaper than the real product.
The gang allegedly produced the fake goods at an unregistered factory and sold them both on the Internet and through street shops.
Police raided three locations in Zhejiang and Hebei provinces on March 12 and seized more than 200 boxes of fake products.
