Shanghai World Travel Fair to open on April 18
The annual Shanghai World Travel Fair will open at the Shanghai Exhibition Center on April 18 with the culture, history and landscapes of 53 countries and regions in the spotlight.
Performances and delicacies from around the world will be combined with cultural and creative products, lucky draws and games, the organizers announced on Thursday.
Visitors will enjoy dances with exotic flavors and pipa performances, learn how to make fans, delicious sushi and can practice their calligraphy.
A market covering more than 700 square meters will feature traditional Shanghai specialities, and creative handicrafts and souvenirs. Discounted tour packages will be offered at the event as well. Nearly 30 time-honored food brands will bring their specialty snacks to the event.
A seminar on visas will be held during the fair, gathering experts and insiders to discuss how to boost efficiency through technologies, while a forum will brainstorm the promotion of overseas destinations via the Internet.
The travel fair running through April 21 will gather more than 750 exhibitors from countries such as Italy, Russia, Japan and Bulgaria and is expected to attract more than 65,000 visitors from home and abroad, according to the organizer.
