People without jobs in Shanghai will receive higher unemployment insurance from next month.

People without jobs in Shanghai will receive higher unemployment insurance from next month, according to the Shanghai Human Resources and Social Security Bureau.

People who lose their jobs can obtain 1,815 yuan (US$270) per month, up 45 yuan, in the first 12 months. 

If they still fail to find jobs, they will get 1,453 yuan per month in the second year.

Meanwhile, employees who are injured at work can receive higher occupational injury insurance funds.

From next month, they will receive 5,810 to 7,044 yuan every month, based on levels of injuries. This is an increase from 491 yuan to 618 yuan.

Severely injured employees who can’t take care of themselves will receive an additional 2,350 to 3,916 yuan every month, up 210 yuan to 350 yuan.
