Azaleas exhibit set to bloom at forest park
An azalea exhibition will open at Binjiang Forest Park in the Pudong New Area on Wednesday, featuring tens of thousands of azaleas of more than 400 varieties.
The display will run through May 5, with the best azalea-viewing period being between mid and late April, according to the park operator.
The red, pink and white azaleas will be in full bloom along brooks, in valleys and inside forests, presenting a feast for the eyes.
Nearly 20,000 square meters of blue and purple Chinese violet cress, as well as pink cherry blossoms, and other spring flowers and plants such as peach blossoms, magnolia, Chinese crabapple and verbenae will add color throughout the park.
There is also a 2-kilometer-long Chinese rose wall inside the park.
An indoor exhibition features an azalea bonsai display, including some rare species.
A variety of activities such as orienteering games, garbage sorting events, a painting exhibition, a traditional culture exhibition and science popularization activities will also be staged during the event.
Admission to the park will remain 20 yuan (US$2.98) during the exhibition.
