Stampede at cancelled rapper's concert just a rumor: police

An audience member had her hand injured when picking up her phone, police said.

No stampede occurred before the scheduled Shanghai concert of A$AP Rocky on Friday, police said on Saturday.

The concert was cancelled after an incident, and it was rumored on the internet that it was due to a stampede.

But according to police, a female fan had her hand injured when picking up her phone among the crowd and was later treated in a hospital, and no other people were injured.

The concert, "S.T.D. Warehouse Party," was to be held at Shanghai Convention and Exhibition Center of International Sourcing in Putuo District.

The organizer of the concert said in a Weibo post early Saturday morning that the concert was cancelled after an audience member was injured, and that they were instructed by police and other government administrators to make the decision out of consideration for the safety of all audience members.

Police said they received a report about the incident at 10:10pm.
